Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has wished his friend and Jumanji co-star Kevin Hart a speedy recovery after he got into a car accident as a passenger in his vintage Plymouth Barracuda in Malibu Hills on Sunday night. Entertainment Weekly reports that the incident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Mulholland Highway, and ended up colliding with an embankment.
They both suffered “major back injuries” and were transported to a nearby hospital, while an unnamed driver of a second car was reportedly uninjured. (The 1970 Barracuda, which Hart treated himself to as a birthday gift earlier this year, had been previously given the now somewhat appropriate nickname of “Menace.”)
“Stop messing with my emotions brother,” Johnson wrote in an Instagram post. “We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man. Stay strong.” Johnson and Hart have worked together multiple times, on Central Intelligence and Hobbs & Shaw, and forged a strong bond — one which often takes the form of roasting each other on social media, but is clearly rooted in mutual respect.
Actor Terry Crews, who has appeared alongside Hart in Soul Plane and Real Husbands of Hollywood, also tweeted his well wishes last night.
Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston also took to Instagram to send Hart “positive energy and healing thoughts,” calling him “a good human”. Cranston and Hart worked together on last year’s comedy-drama The Upside.
Other stars from the world of comedy shared “get well soon” messages, including Jamie Kennedy, Arsenio Hall, Paul Reiser, Sherrie Shepherd, Brad Garrett and Ronald Funches.
