Stranger Things and hair enthusiasts alike went into a collective panic a couple weeks ago, when Joe Keery—who plays the wavy-locked legend Steve Harrington on Netflix’s sci-fi smash hit—showed up on a red carpet not only lacking his signature flow, but with a bowl cut in it’s place. Why!?!?!?
But I’m here to tell you that it’s going to be OK. Mr. Keery has taken to Instagram, and while he still has a grimy-looking mustache on his face, I’m happy to report that the bowl cut is a thing of the past, with the any-direction-possible ‘do back where it belongs.
“A Nissan Quest! Nice ride!,” the Stranger Things star wrote in his caption, clearly burying the important news that his hair, and thus, his power, was back where it belongs.
The bowl cut was just a simply jarring move, and, frankly, we’re glad it’s a thing of the past. Most likely, this was a bit. It had to have been a bit. Right? Yeah, let’s say it was a bit.
It definitely feels like Keery was having a bit of fun with his appearance. Not long after setting the internet ablaze with his bowl cut and mustache red carpet look, he shared a photo of the similarly styled Alfred Molina character from Boogie Nights to his Instagram.
“Happy Sunday!” he wrote, watching the world burn around him. It had to be a bit. But then again, the mustache does still remain. We’ll have to see how this all goes.
Netflix just announced Stranger Things 4, in which Keery will certainly have a major role to play. He’ll also appear alongside Ryan Reynolds in next summer’s action movie Free Guy, directed by Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy. It sure looks like Keery’s star is continuing to rise, so hopefully he can manage his hair as well as he’s managing his career.
